Diljit Dosanjh’s Panjab ’95: Release Date Pushed Again
A Disheartening Update for Fans
After finally securing a February 7 release date, Panjab ’95 has been delayed again, as confirmed by lead actor Diljit Dosanjh on Instagram.
A Film Plagued by Controversy
The biographical film, directed by Honey Trehan, tells the story of Jaswant Singh Khalra, a human rights activist from Punjab’s 1990s era. Khalra’s fearless investigation into the unlawful killings of Sikhs made him a beacon of hope but also placed him and his family in grave danger.
The film’s journey to the screen has been far from smooth. The CBFC’s demand for 120 cuts drew criticism, prompting intervention by the SGPC. This eventually led to a global release being announced without edits, but new “circumstances” have now delayed the release further.
Diljit Addresses the Delay
Sharing the news with his followers, Dosanjh wrote, “It pains us to inform you that the movie Panjab ’95 will not release on 7th Feb due to circumstances beyond our control.” His heartfelt apology highlights the challenges faced by the team in bringing this story to the public.
Why This Film Matters
Starring Dosanjh, Arjun Rampal, and Surinder Vicky, Panjab ’95 sheds light on an essential chapter of Indian history. Its gripping narrative and powerful performances have already garnered attention, making it a must-watch for cinephiles and history enthusiasts alike.
